Levis, a Massachusetts native who starred at Kentucky, was drafted 33rd overall in 2023 and signed a four-year, $9.54 million rookie deal. He remains on the rookie contract with one year left, but sat out 2025 after shoulder surgery, ceding the starting job to Cam Ward.
In two seasons as a pro, Levis logged 21 starts and saw limited success. He went 3-6 in 2023 with 1,808 passing yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions. In 2024, he posted 2-10 with 2,091 yards, 13 TDs and 12 interceptions, while Ward’s emergence capped Levis’s opportunity in Tennessee.
Titans insider Nick Suss suggested a Levis trade is “unavoidable” given Ward’s selection in 2025 and the addition of Mitch Trubisky, which could shift Levis to expendable status if the market does not materialize. He pointed out that the current landscape has not produced large returns for backup quarterbacks, tempering optimism about Levis’s trade value.
Several teams could pursue Levis as a veteran backup behind an established starter. Potential destinations include the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, both in need of experienced depth behind Stafford and Herbert, respectively. The Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have also been noted as possible fits given their backup quarterback situations and future uncertainty at the position.
As the draft approaches, Tennessee’s leverage may hinge on Levis’s health status and the interest teams show for a talented, yet unproven, quarterback with upside. With a limited market for mid-round quarterbacks, the Titans’ decision could shape the roster landscape for 2026 and beyond.
