Veteran signal-caller Andy Dalton, now 38, recently parted ways with the Philadelphia Eagles and appears to be signing with his seventh NFL team. The move places Dalton with the Atlanta Falcons, who currently roster Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback. In a corresponding roster adjustment, the Falcons released Cooper Rush, which could allow Dalton to serve as the team’s No. 3 quarterback or push into a backup role.
Dalton’s career trajectory continues to impress as he extends his time in the league, now entering his 16th season after being drafted by Cincinnati out of TCU.
Dalton’s most significant tenure came with the Bengals, where he spent the first nine seasons and earned three Pro Bowl selections while guiding the team to six postseason appearances. Over 133 starts in Cincinnati, he posted a 70-61-2 record, threw for 31,594 yards and 204 touchdowns against 118 interceptions.
Since departing the Bengals in 2020, Dalton has moved among several teams, including the Cowboys, Saints, Bears, and Panthers, before most recently joining the Eagles ahead of this season.
