Real Madrid had previously explored the possibility of reuniting with Kroos in a future capacity, aiming for him to maintain a daily presence at the club’s training complex in Valdebebas after his playing days. While discussions between Kroos and club officials did not materialize into a concrete return plan at that time, the relationship remains positive, and a future collaboration remains a possibility.
For now, Kroos continues his work at the Toni Kroos Academy in Boadilla, where he is focused on developing young talents. After two years away from competitive football, he is beginning to consider coaching as the next phase of his career. His current coaching qualifications allow him to work up to the third tier of Spanish football, a level he could reach through an accelerated pathway available to professionals with substantial elite-level experience.
This pathway could enable Kroos to coach in the Primera Federación, though he intends to proceed gradually. He has notified the RFEF of his interest in joining the coaching course reserved for professional footballers for the 2027/28 season. The course offered this season is limited to a small number of elite former players, with UEFA restricting access to 20 places per campaign.
With his qualifications, Kroos could serve as an assistant coach in the near term, but is not yet eligible to head a team in the top division or Segunda División. Successfully completing the coaching program would earn him the UEFA A license, opening the door to coaching opportunities at any level. Kroos’s ambition and experience position him well for a future role in management, building on the leadership he demonstrated during his prolific playing career.
