Tenuta’s return to active duty marks another opportunity for the former Packers reserve to establish himself after several years of moving between rosters and practice squads. He has appeared in seven regular-season games, including three with Green Bay in 2022, but has yet to start an NFL game.
Tenuta’s NFL journey began when he was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2022 draft after playing college football at Virginia Tech. The Bills released him, and he was claimed by the Colts in October 2022. His initial stint with Green Bay began when the Packers claimed him off waivers on October 18, 2022. At that time, Tenuta was listed at 6-foot-8 and 314 pounds, and he had earned All-ACC honorable mention after starting 11 games at left tackle during his final college season.
With Green Bay, Tenuta saw limited action, appearing in three games in the 2022 season and recording seven offensive snaps plus 18 on special teams. All seven of those offensive snaps came during a late-season game against the Minnesota Vikings on January 1, 2023, when he played the final seven snaps at right tackle after Green Bay had built a large lead.
An ankle injury in the 2023 preseason sidelined him for that season, and he spent the year on injured reserve. He returned for the 2024 offseason and training camp, showing versatility by working at right guard and right tackle before Green Bay released him during final roster cuts on August 27, 2024.
Tenuta then joined the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad before returning to Indianapolis, signing a reserve/future contract in January 2025. He appeared in four games for the Colts last season, bringing his career total to seven, and remained with the team through the 2026 offseason and the start of training camp. He was briefly released on August 31 before being re-signed to the practice squad later that day. Now, with the promotion to the 53-man roster, Tenuta enters Week 1 as depth along the offensive line as Indianapolis looks to strengthen its protection and run game.
The move underscores Tenuta’s ongoing NFL presence, highlighting his size, flexibility, and persistence as a professional football player who continues to pursue opportunities at the highest level. While his NFL snaps at the moment are limited, his physical attributes and prior experience keep him in consideration as a reserve option on the offensive line.
