Demercado joins a backfield that already includes Javonte Williams and Malik Davis, giving Dallas an additional warm-body with NFL experience to help bolster depth for the upcoming season.
Emari Demercado’s NFL journey has included stints with the Arizona Cardinals (2023–2025), a brief period with the Chiefs, and now the Cowboys. His most productive NFL season to date came in 2025, when he totaled 44 carries for 312 yards. Across his career, he has accumulated 126 rushing attempts for 819 yards and three rushing touchdowns. In the receiving game, Demercado has contributed 50 receptions for 324 yards and one receiving touchdown.
As a third option in Dallas, Demercado provides reliable depth as the team looks to return to the postseason. The Cowboys finished the 2025 season with a 7-9-1 record and have not reached the playoffs since the 2023 campaign.
Looking ahead, Dallas will open the 2026 season against the New York Giants on September 13, with a 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff on NBC, marking the first Sunday Night Football game of the year.
