Douglas made an impact as a standout player at West Virginia in college, earning All-Big 12 honors before being selected 99th overall by the Eagles in the 2017 NFL Draft. He appeared in five games as a rookie, recording two interceptions on the way to earning a Super Bowl ring with Philadelphia.
During his time with the Eagles, Douglas served as a part-time starter for three seasons before being waived in September 2020. Since then, he has played for several NFL teams, including the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, and Buffalo Bills. In the 2024 season with the Bills, Douglas started 15 games and logged six pass deflections.
Douglas joined the Dolphins in 2025 on a one-year contract worth $1.57 million. Across nine NFL seasons, he has accumulated substantial playing experience and versatility in the defensive backfield, contributing as a starter and rotational defender.
The Commanders’ move to bring in Douglas aims to bolster their secondary depth and bolster options for the upcoming season. As the team prepares for camp, Douglas’ experience across multiple defenses and his knowledge of the NFC East could prove valuable in a competitive division.
