Trey Lyles is returning to the NBA after a season abroad, reportedly signing a one-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The update comes from Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, who indicated via social media that the veteran forward will join Minnesota for the 2026-27 season.
Lyles has spent ten NBA seasons from 2015 to 2025, suiting up for Utah, Denver, San Antonio, Detroit, and Sacramento. For the 2025-26 campaign, he played overseas with Real Madrid in Spain. Reports from spring suggested Real Madrid was interested in bringing him back, but Lyles prioritized a return to the NBA.
His lone European season proved productive. He helped Real Madrid reach the EuroLeague championship game, averaging 13.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 20.9 minutes per game over 36 appearances. He shot efficiently, posting a shooting line of 0.515 from the field, 0.443 from three-point range, and 0.792 from the free-throw line.
