Dallas would use the No. 9 pick to take LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane, widely viewed as one of the top cornerbacks in this class and a potential immediate starter in the Cowboys’ secondary.
Kansas City would land Rueben Bain Jr. at No. 12, a player the Chiefs have long been attached to in pre-draft chatter. Schrager’s projection envisions Bain sliding to a range that would allow the Chiefs to address an edge-rushing need early in the first round.
With the move of No. 20, the Chiefs would add Indiana wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr., a versatile, yards-after-catch threat who parallels some traits of Rashee Rice and is seen as a fit for Andy Reid’s offense.
Dallas would wrap up the deal by selecting UCF edge rusher Malachi Lawrence at No. 29, adding another pass-rush option to complement their established defensive front.
Peter Schrager explained that the trade would guarantee Dallas one of the top defensive prospects while still giving Kansas City a top-tier edge defender and an additional weapon in the passing game, a combination he described as a potential “masterclass” moment for Chiefs general manager Brett Veach.
