Hutchings has spent the bulk of his pro career in the Canadian Football League, where he earned all-star recognition with the Calgary Stampeders. He also spent time with the Chicago Bears during the 2024 training camp after entering the league as an undrafted free agent.
Scouts previously praised Hutchings for his instincts and hand usage, noting his ability to counter and threaten gaps at the three-technique with quickness off the snap. Those traits helped him stand out during the pre-draft evaluation period.
College and pro evaluators highlighted Hutchings’ rare combination of size and athleticism. Bruce Feldman once included him on his annual “Freaks List,” underscoring a profile of strength and speed, even at a lighter frame for a defensive lineman.
The Vikings’ decision to part ways with Hutchings comes as the team finalizes its post-free-agency and draft plans. With this release, Minnesota creates an additional roster opportunity ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft while Hutchings continues his career path, which has yet to lead back to an extended NFL stay.
