Green closed Sunday with a four-under 68 to force a playoff, erasing the late stumble and carding four straight birdies from holes 13 to 16 after beginning the final round at one over par. She said she initially thought she wasn’t in contention but found a resurgent stretch that kept her in the mix.
The victory came with a decisive 12-foot birdie putt in the playoff to seal the win. Green, who has become known for clutch finishing rounds, said she felt confident in her ability to make important putts, even if they weren’t longer than six feet.
The win came as the JM Eagle LA Championship boosted its prize pool to $4.75 million, making it the tour’s highest purse outside the majors this year. Green collected $712,500 for the winner’s share. The increased prize pool underscores the event’s growing prominence on the LPGA schedule.
This is Green’s third JM Eagle LA Championship victory in four years, with prior titles in 2023 and 2024 when the event was held at Wilshire Country Club. The 2026 triumph confirms her sustained success at this event.
Kim dominated early, opening with back-to-back 65s and at one point holding an eight-stroke lead before Green’s late surge and the playoff. On Sunday, Kim carried a five-shot advantage into the final stretch before a bogey on the eleventh hole opened the door for Im and Green. Kim called the finish strong but expressed disappointment in not closing it out, while Green heads into the Chevron Championship at Memorial Park with renewed confidence after her fourth win of the year and her eighth LPGA title overall.
