OKC now has the right to swap its 2026 pick with the Clippers. If the Warriors win Friday and claim the No. 8 seed, the Thunder would have a 2% chance to land the No. 1 pick; if Golden State loses, their odds for the No. 12 pick would be 1.5%. Regardless, OKC will receive at least the No. 11 or No. 12 pick via the Clippers.
The development comes as the Philadelphia 76ers won their play-in game, meaning the Thunder will also add Philadelphia’s 2025 first-round pick. The pick has top-protection provisions that shift to top-4 protection for 2026 and 2027, and it will convey this year given the Sixers’ playoff status.
In addition, the Thunder could secure the Utah Jazz’s top-8 protected first-round pick if the Jazz’s lottery outcome isn’t favorable. Add to that the potential for multiple first-round selections, and OKC’s draft capital figures to surge.
The Thunder finished the regular season 64-18 and are widely regarded as a title contender, heightening the significance of adding more high-end draft assets to a deep roster.
The NBA Draft Lottery is scheduled for May 10.
