Wembanyama produced a standout rookie campaign, averaging 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.0 steal and 3.1 blocks per game while shooting 51.2% from the field and 34.9% from three in 64 games. As the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft, he helped lift the Spurs back to the playoffs in his third year.
This marks San Antonio’s first postseason appearance since 2019, a milestone achieved thanks in large part to Wembanyama’s rapid development and impact on the lineup.
Despite the late-season injury, both Wembanyama and Harper are set for Game 1, with Spurs coach Mitch Johnson confirming Harper’s availability and noting Wembanyama is fully cleared to take the floor.
As the series unfolds, the Spurs will lean on Wembanyama’s all-around production and the contributions from Harper and the supporting cast to challenge Portland in a competitive first-round matchup on their home floor.
