Darnold said his recovery plan remains steady, emphasizing rehab and step-by-step progress as he prepares for Sunday. He indicated the preparation is aimed at keeping him fresh for practice and the game, echoing confidence he showed before the NFC championship win over the Rams.
“I’ve got to take it one step at a time,” Darnold said, adding that the time away has helped his conditioning and that he feels great entering what will be a high-stakes matchup.
In two playoff appearances this season, Darnold has been highly productive. He has completed 37 of 53 passes for 470 yards and thrown four touchdowns with no interceptions, underscoring his late-season form despite the injury.
Coach Mike Macdonald noted that Darnold has gradually increased his throwing workload in practice after being limited earlier in the postseason. He was restricted in Seattle last week before the club traveled to San Jose for the next game, with decisions about practice reps to come.
Macdonald expressed confidence in Darnold’s readiness, saying he is in a good place and notably confident. The head coach said the team will see how Friday and the day of the game unfold, acknowledging he does not yet know the exact number of throws Darnold will attempt.
As Seattle shifts focus to the Super Bowl, Darnold’s health status remains a key storyline for the Seahawks. His performance and durability will be critical as Seattle aims for its first championship appearance in the current postseason run.
