A video that surfaced on Thursday appears to show Emmanwori with a noticeable limp as he exits a white SUV at the San Jose Marriott, but the footage does not show him wearing a boot or brace. The clip, first posted on TikTok and reposted elsewhere, has fueled speculation about the injury’s severity while not providing a definitive medical read.
Sports medicine analyst Dr. David Chao described the footage as indicative of a likely right inversion ankle sprain, commonly known as a low ankle sprain. He explained that such injuries involve stretching or tearing of ligaments on the outside of the ankle (ATFL and CFL) and noted that recovery times can vary widely, with high-level athletes sometimes returning quickly but often taking days to weeks.
Another medical voice, Dr. Jesse Morse, offered a more cautious take, suggesting the injury appears new and not a reaggravation of Emmanwori’s earlier ankle issue. Morse warned that if Emmanwori does play, he would likely be very limited. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Emmanwori would undergo imaging to determine the injury’s severity.
Emmanwori previously missed three games after an ankle injury in Week 2 against the Steelers. While the update from Macdonald provides cautious optimism for his Sunday status, the final decision hinges on Thursday’s walkthrough and any resulting practice input, with imaging and medical evaluation continuing to inform the prognosis.
