UT Tyler’s Director of Athletics Sam Ferguson called the 2026 class “truly elite,” highlighting the wide-ranging impact of each honoree. He noted Dr. Patterson’s leadership in building a championship culture, praised Brittany Mahomes’ on-field production and her work to advance women in sport, and lauded the 2016 softball team’s lasting legacy on and off the field.
Brittany Mahomes’ UT Tyler soccer career (2013-2016) ranks among the program’s best. She finished with 78 total points and 31 goals, placing her second all-time in both categories, while also ranking third in game-winning goals (10) and assists (16) across 74 appearances.
Her standout 2016 season further justification for induction, as she posted 40 points, 18 goals, and seven game-winning goals. She also had four matches with three goals apiece, tying the school single-game mark for goals in a game and underscoring her impact for the program.
The class also recognizes the 2016 NCAA Championship softball team, which left a lasting legacy at UT Tyler and beyond, as Ferguson noted. The softball squad’s national-title run is cited as a key part of the group’s enduring influence on the university’s athletics tradition.
Together, the honorees illustrate UT Tyler’s commitment to recognizing cross-sport excellence and leadership within its Patriot community. The induction ceremony for the 2026 UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame is scheduled for March.
