According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Philadelphia did speak with LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. about the opening, but Weis informed the team he will stay on Lane Kiffin’s LSU staff.
Three reported candidates have since taken other jobs: Mike McDaniel became the Los Angeles Chargers’ offensive coordinator, Bobby Slowik was promoted to the Dolphins’ play-caller role, and the Cowboys blocked an interview with Klayton Adams due to a potential lateral move.
Meanwhile, the Bills’ Brian Daboll remains a top option in the broader conversation around top OC targets, as Daboll contends with a potential run at the Bills head coaching job. On the Ravens’ side, Kliff Kingsbury or Joe Brady are being considered to run the offense on Jesse Minter’s staff.
Philadelphia is also set to interview Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson, 37, who has spent the past three seasons working with C.J. Stroud and previously spent time with the Vikings and Colts in various coaching roles.
Currently, options that have met or will meet with the Eagles include Brian Daboll, Jerrod Johnson, Matt Nagy, Jim Bob Cooter, Mike Kafka and Josh Grizzard, with the possibility that interviews expand to assistants from the Rams, Broncos, Seahawks and Patriots in the coming days.
