Reports on the incident indicate that the Springfield Police Department in Oregon booked Stewart for a DUII. He was reportedly released about an hour later to a teammate, Dakorien Moore, after the booking.
An Oregon athletics spokesperson confirmed the university is aware of the incident and is gathering information.
Stewart was listed as doubtful for the Nebraska game and did not play. Through five games this season, he has compiled 27 receptions for 352 yards and four touchdowns, with a scoring streak spanning his last four appearances. The week prior, against UCLA, he had five catches for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Stewart is a third-year player at Oregon, having transferred ahead of the 2024 season. Last year he recorded 48 receptions for 613 yards and five touchdowns, and he missed the 2025 season due to an injury. Before Oregon, he spent two seasons at Texas A&M, delivering 53 catches for 649 yards and two scores as a freshman and 38 receptions for 514 yards and four touchdowns as a sophomore.
A highly touted recruit, Stewart arrived from Frisco Liberty High School in Texas as part of the 2022 class. He was rated a five-star-plus prospect by Rivals, ranked as the top player in Texas, the No. 2 wide receiver nationally, and the No. 8 overall prospect.
Coach Dan Lanning noted that Oregon’s week following a loss to UCLA felt different, as the team then beat Nebraska by a narrow margin. With starting quarterback Dante Moore sidelined, Dylan Raiola and Brock Thomas split starts. Lanning emphasized flexibility in game plans, stating that the staff will use the best personnel and simple schemes to maximize execution.
Looking ahead, Oregon travels to Illinois on October 24, followed by a home game against Northwestern. The program continues to assess the situation surrounding Stewart as it prepares for the upcoming slate.
