Gardner-Johnson has had a wide-ranging NFL career. He entered the league as a fourth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in the 2019 draft and immediately showed playmaking ability. In his rookie season, he played 16 games, recording one interception, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, eight passes defended, and 49 tackles (including six for a loss). In 2020, he appeared in 15 games with one interception, 1.0 sack, 66 tackles (five for a loss), and 13 passes defensed. The 2021 season saw him play 12 games with three interceptions, 2.0 sacks, and 46 tackles. He then moved to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, where he led the league with six interceptions. A brief stint with the Detroit Lions in 2023 followed due to an injury-shortened period, after which he rejoined the Eagles in 2024, collecting six more interceptions and earning a Super Bowl ring. In 2025, he split time between the Texans and the Bears. By the start of 2026, Gardner-Johnson had an interception and 25 tackles for the Bills.
At 29 years old, Gardner-Johnson still has the potential for a productive career if he can maintain consistency on the field and avoid incidents that could jeopardize his standing with teams and league officials.
