Weinberg’s name has been spotlighted beyond the gridiron due to a rumored romantic connection with Kai Trump, a member of a prominent political family who also attends the University of Miami, pursuing golf. Online chatter has circulated about a possible relationship between the two, but neither has publicly confirmed the rumors. At present, the shared Miami affiliation is the only widely discussed link.
The conversation began with a social media post on October 17, which claimed that Weinberg and Kai Trump were an item, noting Weinberg’s offseason transfer from Florida State. While the post drew attention, there has been no official confirmation from either party, and the situation remains unverified.
Kai Trump has been in the public eye for more than her athletic pursuits. In a March 2026 Q&A, she hinted at dating someone and mentioned the possibility of attending prom with a partner, without naming the person. In January 2026, she spoke on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast about the challenges of dating with Secret Service protection, highlighting the unique pressures faced by members of high-profile families.
Jake Weinberg’s arrival at the University of Miami came in 2026 after transferring from Florida State. Reports from the South Florida Sun Sentinel indicate that he competed for the starting kicking job in preseason with Northwestern transfer Jack Olsen. Weinberg’s notable 72-yard field goal during summer training in Tennessee underscored his range, while Olsen brought a strong track record from Northwestern, including 19 of 21 made field goals. Head coach Mario Cristobal stressed that the competition would determine who earned the starting role.
Beyond football, the association with Kai Trump has drawn media attention due to their mutual ties to the University of Miami. Kai committed to the university in 2025 to pursue college golf and later made her LPGA debut at The Annika in Florida in November 2025 after receiving a sponsor exemption, marking a significant milestone in her athletic career.
Kai has occasionally discussed romance and celebrity crushes in interviews. In a July 2026 interview, she mentioned Theo James as a current crush, noting a shift from her previous crush on Drew Starkey. She described Theo James as very attractive, but these remarks do not provide evidence about a relationship with Weinberg.
As of now, the October 17 social media post remains the central piece of the speculation, with no public acknowledgment from either athlete. While their shared Miami connection is notable, it does not constitute confirmation of a dating relationship.
