“I don’t ever wanna see Sam Leavitt take another snap for LSU again. There’s no way a 40 million dollar roster should be in a 24-7 deficit to Ole Miss. Landen Clark needs to be playing. Leave that dumb ass basketball hoop in Oxford. Just focus on football,” Fehoko posted on social media.
Kiffin, who departed Ole Miss to become LSU’s head coach, returned to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium for the first time as LSU’s coach with significant anticipation surrounding the matchup. LSU fell behind 24-7 by halftime, mounted a comeback to tie the game at 24, but Ole Miss answered late to secure the win. Leavitt contributed to LSU’s rally but the Tigers could not finish the job.
Fehoko’s social media post came after a week of publicly advocating for Clark to receive a larger role. The former LSU star had previously described Clark as “the answer” for LSU’s quarterback situation moving forward and argued that Leavitt’s absence could potentially benefit the team.
“I know LSU fans may disagree, but this could actually work in your favor. I’ve studied Leavitt’s game tape; he could cost them games this year. They need to give Clark more playing time,” Fehoko wrote.
Leavitt began the season as the centerpiece of Lane Kiffin’s new LSU offense after transferring from Arizona State. He opened with a strong showing in LSU’s 51-10 win over Clemson, throwing for 230 yards and rushing for 113, while accounting for three touchdowns. Turnovers, however, became a concern in the early slate, with Leavitt throwing four interceptions across LSU’s first two games.
Clark, who joined LSU from Elon during Kiffin’s offseason quarterback reshuffle, had already seen action in the first two games and even scored a rushing touchdown against Louisiana Tech. Ahead of the Ole Miss game, Clark had completed 7 of 10 passes for 109 yards and a touchdown, along with 42 rushing yards.
Fehoko’s frustration is easy to understand given the context. LSU rallied from a 17-point deficit, but Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss led the Rebels in the decisive fourth quarter, including a late rushing TD that sealed the win.
For Kiffin, the defeat put a spotlight on a game many hoped would showcase LSU’s evolving offense. For Leavitt, the outcome adds another layer to questions about his early-season performance. And for Fehoko, the message is clear: he believes Clark should be given the next opportunity at quarterback.
