Recovery timelines have been described cautiously, with hopes for a relatively short absence for Hooker, potentially around two weeks, and a similar outlook for Overshown.
By midweek, there was encouraging news. Hooker’s surgery proceeded smoothly, and Overshown was seen doing rehab work off to the side of practice. Neither player has been placed on injured reserve, suggesting the team remains hopeful they won’t be out long.
With Hooker sidelined, P.J. Locke is expected to start at safety, with first-year prospect Caleb Downs available for situational roles. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Locke and noted that Downs could contribute near the line of scrimmage, offering versatility at the backend.
Losing Overshown at linebacker is a notable hit, given his contribution on defense.
