A note from a recent coverage recap highlighted that the Braves’ sweep of the Dodgers marked their first such feat since May 17–19, 2013, at Turner Field. The winning pitchers in those games were Paul Maholm, Cory Gearrin, and Luis Avilán.
In other Braves news, veteran first baseman Carlos Santana was released earlier this month. Reports from major outlets indicated that Santana would be granted his release from Triple-A Gwinnett and would become a free agent, with hopes of signing with another club. At the time of those updates, Santana had posted a line of .292/.385/.382 with two home runs in 104 plate appearances at Triple-A.
As of late August, Santana remained a free agent, available for teams in Major League Baseball to sign.
