Clark was injured early in Sunday night’s loss to the Tennessee Titans and was carted off the field in an aircast. Seahawks coach Mike MacDonald later provided an injury update, revealing that Clark’s setback will delay the start of his rookie season.
Clark reportedly suffered a broken ankle and will miss several months.
Bud Clark Quickly Made a Positive Impression on the Coaching Staff
Earlier in the month, MacDonald highlighted how quickly Clark made a positive impression during the team’s offseason program and training camp. Clark was expected to play a significant role in the Seahawks’ defense after being selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and he showed an ability to adapt to the league’s speed.
“Bud’s one of those rookies that we’re asking a lot of right now, and I’m impressed with how he’s handling it,” MacDonald said during training camp. “It’s not perfect, but how he goes about his business is what we’re looking for. He needs to trust that he is going to come out of the fog and take it from there. It’s important to start building a relationship with those guys and having a feel for the speed of the game with the ones, how we communicate, and how we play, and he’s doing a good job.”
While it’s unfortunate to see a promising young player sidelined by a serious preseason injury, Clark’s early approach suggests he can return with added determination and aim to contribute as soon as he’s on the field again.
