“They’re doing well. They’re both rehabbing every day, working incredibly hard. I would say they’re on schedule. They’re going well and getting better every day,” Harbaugh stated.
Harbaugh noted that Skattebo is slightly ahead in his recovery, given the nature of his injury, but added that both players are expected to be ready in some capacity as camp begins.
“Skatt will be ready early on in camp and Malik will be working his way into practice as camp gets started one way or another,” Harbaugh said.
Nabers has endured multiple knee surgeries, including two procedures on his right knee since tearing his ACL last September. While Nabers showed early promise after a standout rookie season, the timeline for his return remains fluid. He turned 23 later this month and could start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as the team eases him back into action.
During his rookie year, Nabers posted 18 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns across four games.
Skattebo, 24, sustained an open tibia fracture and a right ankle dislocation last October. He began practicing again before the spring concluded, and there is growing optimism that he could be a full participant when training camp opens in the near future. Harbaugh emphasized that while he doesn’t want to promise guarantees, he is encouraged by the current progress and believes both players will contribute this season. Skattebo proved productive as a rookie, rushing for 410 yards and five touchdowns on 101 carries, plus 24 receptions for 207 yards and two more scores.
There’s a sense of cautious optimism surrounding Nabers and Skattebo, with team officials hopeful that both will be available to contribute in training camp and beyond. As the summer progresses, fans will be watching closely for any signs of their full return to action and their impact on the offense.
