The Penguins added several new players to the fold, including Nick Robertson, Hendrix Lapierre, Kaedan Korczak, Andrei Kuzmenko, Trevor van Riemsdyk, and Declan Carlile.
In the 2026 NHL Draft, the Penguins selected forward Liam Ruck from the WHL’s Medicine Hat Tigers with the 22nd overall pick, followed by his twin brother Markus Ruck with the 39th overall pick. The team then secured its third draft pick by signing defenseman Tomas Galvas to a three-year entry-level contract.
Tomas Galvas was drafted by the Penguins in the second round (54th overall) of the 2026 NHL Draft. He has already accumulated four seasons of professional experience in the Czech Extraliga, splitting time between Bílí Tygři Liberec and HC Olomouc. The 20-year-old has posted 42 points (13 goals, 29 assists) across 113 regular-season games, plus one assist in 14 career playoff appearances. Galvas hails from Zlín, Czechia, and enjoyed a standout 2026 international year, helping Czechia win a silver medal at the World Junior Championship by tallying nine points (three goals, six assists) in seven games. He earned a spot on the tournament All-Star Team and ranked second among defensemen in scoring and plus-minus (+7) with six assists. He later represented the senior national team at the 2026 IIHF World Championship, contributing one assist in eight games, after securing bronze at the World Junior Championship in 2023 and 2024.
Galvas’ strongest club season came in 2025-26 with Liberec, where he put up eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points in 32 games, finishing as the top-scoring defenseman on the team in several categories and ranking sixth in goals, eighth in scoring, and third in plus-minus (+16) among Extraliga defensemen. He added an assist in seven postseason appearances.
The Penguins also re-signed goaltender Arturs Silovs to a one-year contract and extended forward Egor Chinakhov to a three-year deal. Silovs, acquired from the Vancouver Canucks, earned praise for his preparation, competitiveness, and growth throughout the season, contributing to several key wins. Chinakhov’s continued development and contribution were highlighted by coaches and management.
This offseason has seen the Penguins reinforce their lineup across positions, with a mix of re-signings and fresh talent aimed at strengthening their depth for the upcoming season. The core remains focused on contending while integrating the promising young players added through the draft and free agency.
