Martinelli, drafted 55th overall, was traded from the Houston Rockets to the Clippers in exchange for cash and will fill the team’s second two-way slot alongside Sean Pedulla. The Clippers still have one open two-way roster spot.
Standing 6-foot-7, Martinelli spent all four years at Northwestern. He averaged 20+ points in each of the last two seasons and connected on 41.7% of his three-point attempts this past year. His shooting consistency has shown fluctuation, having shot under 34% from beyond the arc in his sophomore and junior campaigns. Beyond scoring, he is a strong rebounder, averaging 6.2 rebounds per game over the last two seasons, with more than two coming on the offensive glass on average.
In June, the Clippers selected four players in the draft. Keaton Wagler and Martinelli are now under contract. Remaining unsigned are Baba Miller (No. 36) and Narcisse Ngoy (No. 57). Ngoy, who has committed to Auburn for 2026/27, is expected to be a domestic draft-and-stash prospect.
