During a recent appearance on the Game Over podcast with Max Kellerman, Paul offered a closer, whiteboard-backed look at the possibilities James is weighing. The breakdown included potential fits for James in starting lineups with the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Cleveland Cavaliers. On the periphery of the discussion, five other franchises appeared on Paul’s board: the Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, and Boston Celtics.
Minnesota has shown increased interest in pursuing the 22-time All-Star, aligning with Paul’s comments about the viability of various destinations. Conversely, the Knicks, Spurs, Mavericks, and Celtics were viewed as less likely options for different reasons.
Paul emphasized that his assessment reflects James’s current considerations, not a finalized decision. He added that he cannot dictate the pace of the process, noting that once James communicates his decision, he will relay that information publicly. For now, Paul said, he is “on his schedule,” awaiting James’s cue on when to share updates.
