There was initial ambiguity about whether the 6-foot-5 guard from Spain would join the NBA roster this season or spend the 2026-27 season overseas as a draft-and-stash prospect. The contract signing indicates that he will be on Dallas’s roster this year.
According to reporting, de Larrea inked the full 120% of his rookie-scale slot, meaning he is set to earn $3.18 million in his first season and could reach up to $16.33 million over a four-year term.
De Larrea was acquired by Dallas in a draft-day trade up from No. 30. He has spent his professional career in Spain with Valencia, taking on a regular role over the past two seasons. In the 2025-26 season, he averaged 9.7 points, 3.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game across 28 domestic contests.
Off the court, de Larrea has shown shooting proficiency, converting 41.2% of his three-pointers across Liga ACB, EuroLeague, and EuroCup competition since the start of the 2024-25 season. At 20 years old, he is also a Liga ACB champion, with Valencia defeating Barcelona for the 2026 title the day after he was drafted.
Draft-and-stash paths remain relatively uncommon for first-round selections, though they still occur. The last first-round pick to remain overseas without immediately signing with an NBA team was Leandro Bolmaro in 2020.
