End of a Long Absence
Lindor’s absence has been a defining storyline of the Mets’ challenging season. The veteran shortstop missed a large portion of the year, creating a substantial void in both the lineup and the clubhouse. While the Mets have attempted to stay competitive, replacing a player of Lindor’s caliber is an arduous task.
Now, after weeks of rehab and recovery, the finish line is in sight. For a team hoping to re-enter the playoff conversation, getting its franchise shortstop back could not come at a better time.
Lindor and Soto Finally Together
A key element of Lindor’s return is the potential impact on the Mets’ lineup. New York also spent part of the season without superstar outfielder Juan Soto, who was sidelined early before being activated from the injured list in late April.
Ironically, Lindor landed on the injured list just one day later. Since then, the Mets have navigated the season without both of their top stars healthy and active simultaneously. That scenario is about to change.
A Much-Needed Spark
The Mets began the season with playoff ambitions, but injuries repeatedly disrupted momentum. With Soto healthy and Lindor nearing a comeback, New York is poised to field its most talented lineup in months.
Whether this translates into immediate wins remains to be seen, but having both superstars available provides a renewed competitive edge as the team enters a critical stretch of the season.
