Before Friday’s game, the Astros released Carlos Pérez from their organization. Pérez did not appear in a game for Houston. In 57 games with the Triple-A affiliate, he batted .222 with 47 hits, eight home runs, and 28 RBIs.
Pérez has spent the first three years of his professional career with the Los Angeles Angels and has also spent time with the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, and Oakland Athletics over five MLB seasons. The 35-year-old last played in an MLB game during the 2023 season with Oakland.
Pérez could be a potential addition for another organization seeking batting depth, and it will be interesting to see if he signs with a new club before the end of the 2026 season.
