Moore has requested a trade from the Colts, who are actively seeking a partner as he enters the final year of his contract. Dallas, which has added safeties Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke this offseason, would stand to benefit from Moore’s experience as a top slot corner if he lands with the capable defense in 2025 and beyond.
A nine-season veteran with the Colts, Moore has been a reliable presence in the slot and earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2021, a year that featured a career-high in tackles and interceptions. Last season, he posted solid counting numbers and remained a consistent contributor in Indianapolis’ secondary, although his playing time declined somewhat in 2024.
Cap considerations would play a major role in any deal. Moore is due a $10 million base salary in 2026, and the Colts could save roughly $7 million against the cap by trading him before June 1, with even larger savings if the move occurs after June 1. Indianapolis has signaled that releasing him remains a possibility if a suitable trade doesn’t materialize.
For the Cowboys, a Moore addition would be a short-term fix with potential long-term value, providing a veteran upgrade at a position that struggled last season. Dallas finished near the bottom of several defensive categories, including points allowed and pass defense, and the team owns multiple fifth-round picks, which could help facilitate a swap without sacrificing much draft capital.
Looking ahead, Dallas could opt to wait and see whether Moore lands as a free agent, preserving draft capital and potentially signing him to a more favorable deal. If a trade is pursued, a fifth-round pick seems to be a plausible price, given Moore’s age, contract status, and the Colts’ willingness to moves.
