Tom sustained a torn patellar tendon in Week 15, causing him to miss the final three regular-season games and Green Bay’s wild-card playoff loss. Gutekunst said the surgery went well and praised Tom’s work ethic, noting the team will have a number of bodies ready to step in as needed.
Tom signed a four-year, $88 million extension last offseason, a deal highlighted by a $30.2 million signing bonus that was the largest for an NFL offensive lineman at the time. Gutekunst indicated Tom should be cleared to participate in training camp late in the summer.
The Packers’ offensive line remains a focal point for Gutekunst, who expressed confidence in the unit as a whole while acknowledging the need for depth. He cited the return of several players in the rotation, including Jacob Monk at center, and the expected returns of Travis Glover, Donovan Jennings, and Darian Kinnard.
Green Bay did lose Rasheed Walker and Elgton Jenkins this offseason, who combined for 25 starts last season. Jordan Morgan is expected to fill Walker’s role, and Sean Rhyan could step in for Jenkins, but the team could also add help in the draft to bolster reserves and push veterans at multiple spots, including right guard where Anthony Belton had a rookie season to address.
Gutekunst reiterated that the Packers will continue to pursue upgrades along the offensive line and remain mindful of the roster’s balance. He underscored that Tom’s recovery and the overall health of the depth chart will influence decisions ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft and beyond.
