Maas, inducted into the Chiefs Hall of Honor in 2025, will serve as the Day 2 draft picker announcer, continuing a club tradition of having a legendary former player introduce selections on rounds two or three.
Maas spent nine of his 10 NFL seasons with Kansas City (1984-1992), appearing in 116 games (111 starts) and ranking as the franchise’s most prolific nose tackle. He helped the Chiefs clinch playoff berths in 1986, 1990, 1991 and 1992, and earned a Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 1984 after a standout rookie campaign.
Draft highlights from Maas’s résumé include two Pro Bowls (1986-87), 409 career tackles (261 solo), 40 sacks, and 13 passes defensed across his Chiefs tenure, along with a later stint in Green Bay in 1993. He was a fifth overall pick in 1984 out of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned first-team All-America honors and also garnered Academic All-American recognition.
Following his playing career, Maas spent 12 years as a Fox Sports NFL broadcaster, remained active in local media, and participated in the Kansas City Ambassadors program. He has also built a career in commercial real estate, maintaining a visible presence in the Chiefs community.
Looking ahead to the Chiefs’ first four selections, team executives will weigh options across edge rusher, cornerback, wide receiver, and offensive tackle, with potential for multiple picks at EDGE. Other targets could include tight end, linebacker, and safety, as Kansas City looks to replenish and sharpen a roster aiming to return to elite form in 2026.
