ESPN insider Adam Schefter highlighted Richardson as a potential trade candidate during the 2026 NFL Draft, noting that several players could move in the draft and Richardson could be among those drawing interest.
Richardson, a former fourth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, requested a trade after being benched for the third time in his career. He reportedly lost a training camp battle to Daniel Jones, who signed a two-year extension with the team, underscoring Jones as the long-term option at quarterback.
An anonymous NFL executive suggested the Colts could fetch at most a fifth- or sixth-round pick in exchange for Richardson, reflecting the unsettled value of the quarterback in current market conditions.
Beyond Richardson, Schefter identified cornerback Kenny Moore II as another Colts player likely to be dealt at the draft. Moore, a Pro Bowler in 2021, has been with Indy since 2017 and is entering the final year of his contract, which could help the Colts address the nickelback position if a deal goes through.
Richardson and Moore are not at the team’s voluntary OTAs, according to team officials. GM Chris Ballard said Richardson’s eye injury from the 2025 season has influenced the decision not to move him previously, though Richardson is cleared for activity and progressing in his rehabilitation. The draft begins soon, and both players’ statuses could shift in the lead-up to the event.
