Embiid’s last appearance for Philadelphia came on April 6 against the San Antonio Spurs, where he logged 39 minutes and produced 34 points, 12 rebounds, one assist and four blocks. He has since been sidelined by an oblique issue and then the appendicitis that forced surgery on April 9, causing him to miss the remainder of the regular season.
During the 2025-26 campaign, Embiid appeared in 38 games, averaging 26.9 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. The combination of the oblique ailment and the ensuing appendicitis sidelined him at a critical juncture as the Sixers tried to maintain momentum heading into the playoffs.
Philadelphia did not have Embiid for the Play-In game against Orlando, and he was out for Game 1 against Boston. Adem Bona started in his place for 14 minutes, while Andre Drummond logged the second-half minutes as the team wrestled with the Celtics’ early pressure in a 123-91 loss.
There is no official recovery timeline yet, with the team taking a day-by-day approach. The Sixers are hopeful Embiid can return around the two-week mark, depending on his response to conditioning and basketball activity. The series will resume with Game 2 on Tuesday, April 21.
