In a Yahoo Sports interview, Pittman suggested Rodgers appears close to a decision, but he acknowledged that he and the public don’t really know what Rodgers will do. “People think we know. We know nothing,” Pittman said, underscoring that they’re all waiting to learn alongside the rest of the league.
Pittman also stressed that he wants to give Rodgers space, noting that the quarterback will decide what’s best for him. On NFL Network, he added that Aaron “is going to do what he wants,” and that if Rodgers is ready to return, he will, otherwise the Steelers will move forward with what they have.
During a separate appearance on FanDuel TV, Pittman told Kay Adams that he hasn’t spoken to Rodgers this offseason but believes he still wants to play and will try to compete for as long as he can. His optimism reflects the broader uncertainty surrounding Rodgers’ future with the Steelers.
The ambiguity isn’t limited to Pittman. Steelers players such as Jaylen Warren and Patrick Queen have also acknowledged Rodgers’ decision is for the quarterback and the team to figure out, with Warren describing a wait-and-see approach and Queen calling the odds roughly 50/50.
If Rodgers does return, Pittsburgh’s receiving room could be notably stronger, with Pittman functioning as a likely WR2 behind DK Metcalf. The Steelers have also overhauled other positions, and Pittman’s addition comes as Pittsburgh looks ahead to the 2026 NFL Draft, where multiple picks could shape the depth at wide receiver. Rodgers, who would turn 43 later this year, would add a veteran presence to a depth chart that currently includes Mason Rudolph and Will Howard behind him.
