Golden State is coming off a 126-121 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers, a win they relied on to push into the play-in picture.
In that game, Porzingis produced 20 points, five rebounds, five assists, one steal and two blocks in 28 minutes, shooting 8-for-12 overall and 3-for-6 from three-point range. ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne noted Porzingis was active and impactful, giving the Warriors a strong inside-outside threat.
The Warriors announced Porzingis is questionable for Friday’s game against the Suns, after he was seen limping following the previous night’s action. No other Warriors injury updates were disclosed.
This season marks Porzingis’s first with Golden State, following his midseason trade from the Atlanta Hawks. In 15 games with the Warriors, he averaged 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 43.3% from the field and 31.1% from long range.
Friday’s matchup could hinge on Porzingis’s availability, as his shooting versatility and length would add a valuable dimension for Golden State in a high-stakes play-in contest.
If Porzingis plays, the Warriors will look to lean on his scoring efficiency and pick-and-pop pairing with Stephen Curry to counter a Suns squad seeking to advance. The status of his ankle will likely be a focal point as game-night approaches.
