Maxey, 25, suffered the finger injury on March 7 after a collision with teammate Adem Bona. Initial projections had him out for about three weeks, but he returned after two weeks, wearing a splint and completing the next several games.
He returned to Friday’s clash with the Indiana Pacers and produced a game-high 32 points despite lingering discomfort. In the regular-season finale against the Milwaukee Bucks, Maxey wasn’t on the injury report and logged 27 minutes for 21 points.
On the official injury report for the play-in against the Magic, Maxey is listed as Right Finger; Tendon Strain – Splint, with the designation that he is available to play. The labeling suggests some precaution’s presence, but the Sixers indicated he is slated to suit up.
This development preserves a key component of Philadelphia’s lineup for the must-win game, given Maxey’s role as the team’s leading scorer and a primary offensive driver.
If Maxey is limited, Philadelphia would face increased pressure on its depth and guard rotation, but the current injury status still points toward his active involvement in the play-in showdown. Updates are expected closer to tip-off.
