Homa initially planned to compete at RBC Heritage via a sponsor exemption. However, his solid Augusta finish moved him into the top 50 of the FedExCup standings, securing his place in the PGA Tour’s Signature Event field.
Ahead of the RBC Heritage, the 35-year-old opened up about the challenge of Major championships and the mental toll they take. He described Augusta as one of golf’s toughest physical tests and noted the draining mental aspect that accompanies a major week, while also praising World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler for his consistency.
On his approach to Harbour Town, Homa said he does not plan to overthink adjustments. “I won’t make an adjustment. I just plan to hit it a little straighter than I did last couple of tries here,” he stated, emphasizing a straightforward game plan.
Homa also reflected on the broader challenge of sticking with the sport when things get hard. “I think in pretty much anything it’s just easy to quit when it gets hard,” he said, acknowledging tough stretches from last year and the year prior, but stressing his resolve to keep playing despite the difficulties.
Tee time for RBC Heritage is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. local time, with Homa paired in the final group of the opening round alongside Sudarshan Yellamaraju as they begin at Harbour Town.
