The NFL did not issue fines for Stefon Diggs after the Super Bowl incident in which the former Bills receiver was involved in a second-half altercation with Seattle cornerback Josh Jobe. Video showed both players exchanging shoves after an out-of-bounds hit, but the league’s post-game review did not result in penalties for Diggs or Jobe.
League officials typically review weekly games and announce fines on Saturdays; however, the Super Bowl review produced no fines for either player, despite clear penalties that appeared to justify action under the NFL’s fighting rules. The absence of punishment extends to Jobe, who delivered an illegal hit out of bounds and retaliatory punches, which could have drawn automatic penalties or ejections.
Diggs was later characterized by a measured, team-focused demeanor after the loss, praising his teammates and reflecting on the season. He cited motivational remarks from head coach Mike Vrabel at halftime as part of the message to stay positive and keep the game within reach.
Beyond the field, Diggs faces potential league discipline unrelated to the Super Bowl incident. He was arraigned on felony charges of strangulation or suffocation stemming from a December incident involving a former personal chef. His legal team maintains his innocence, and the NFL retains broad authority to discipline players facing assault accusations.
The NFL previously acted in a similar scenario with Von Miller, suspending him four games after a November 2023 incident despite the case not advancing in court. Whether Diggs will face any league discipline remains an open matter, as the NFL continues to evaluate off-field conduct separate from the Super Bowl outcome.
