Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman John Leglue announced his retirement on Monday via a post on X (Twitter). The 29-year-old confirmed he is stepping away from professional football, thanking coaches, teammates, and organizations that helped him pursue his childhood dream.
In his message, Leglue expressed gratitude for the discipline, sacrifice, and lessons the sport provided, noting the support from Tulane University and the various NFL teams he represented. He did not name the Steelers explicitly, but included three photos of himself in black and gold, indicating his ties to the franchise.
Leglue appeared in six games for the Steelers during the 2021 season, starting five. His only other regular-season NFL appearance came with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023. His career also included training camp or practice squad stints with the Denver Broncos, New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, Tennessee Titans, and Los Angeles Rams, with his last NFL roster involvement in August with the Rams.
The former lineman’s retirement marks the second consecutive day a former Steelers offensive lineman has stepped away from the NFL. Leglue’s post reflects a retrospective tribute to his football journey and a transition to the next chapter of his life.
