The Miami Dolphins plan to release eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Tyreek Hill ahead of the 2026 NFL free agency period, a move confirmed by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. The release, part of several front-office decisions, is expected to clear $22.8 million in cap space for 2026, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Hill’s time in Miami included two standout seasons, earning first-team All-Pro honors in 2022 and 2023. However, injuries have marred the latter years, including a torn ACL and dislocated knee suffered during the 2025 season, raising questions about his readiness for 2026.
Over his Dolphins tenure, Hill produced 340 receptions for 4,733 yards and 27 touchdowns in 54 games. After leading the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards in 2023, his receiving output has declined in the most recent 21 games, contributing to the decision to part ways with the veteran receiver.
If Hill plays again, it will reportedly not be with Miami. The Dolphins’ cap-clearing move underscores a broader restructuring ahead of free agency, addressing both immediate roster needs and long-term financial flexibility. The decision marks a significant shift for a team that relied on Hill as a cornerstone of its passing attack.
