According to Heavy Sports, Kubiak has proven to be one of the better playcallers in the NFL, a factor that could help stabilize an offense that has struggled in recent years.
Mendoza would join a young core emphasizing skill at the top, including running back Ashton Jeanty, whom Mendoza says he’s eager to work with as part of the Raiders’ offensive equation.
“Ashton Jeanty should’ve been Heisman winner the year before,” Mendoza told CBS Sports. “He should have an attribute on like Madden that whenever the first tackle is, he always breaks. What a phenomenal player.”
Mendoza also praised tight end Brock Bowers, suggesting a strong pairing could emerge with the improved play-calling and his passing ability. “What a great player,” Mendoza said of Bowers. “It’s phenomenal, and every quarterback’s best friend is a tight end. I love throwing the ball to tight ends.”
Even with Mendoza, Jeanty, and Bowers, the Raiders’ offensive depth faces questions. Left tackle Kolton Miller is solid but aging, and Jackson Powers-Johnson has shown promise while dealing with injuries in his first two seasons. The wide receiver room is thin, with Jack Bech and Dont’e Thornton still proving themselves, underscoring the team’s need for a true No. 1 receiver and additional OL and WR talent—likely to come in free agency.
If the Raiders can add front-line weapons and sustain strong play-calling, Mendoza could provide a legitimate path to a more dynamic offense in Las Vegas alongside Jeanty and Bowers.
