Trubisky, the 2017 No. 2 overall pick by the Chicago Bears who turns 32 in August, has not started a game for Buffalo in three seasons. In 2025, he appeared in four games and compiled 313 passing yards with four touchdowns.
While some may view him as easily replaceable, Trubisky’s value for Buffalo lies in his role as a trusted sounding board for Allen. The Bills’ quarterback room is known for Allen and Trubisky closely collaborating: “After every offensive drive, Allen takes a seat on the bench directly next to Trubisky, and the two break down the previous possession,” per The Buffalo News.
Trubisky’s NFL journey includes two seasons backing up Kenny Pickett with the Pittsburgh Steelers before returning to Buffalo, where he has embraced Western New York and the locker room culture. His presence is cited as an important factor in Allen’s preparation and in sustaining team chemistry.
Even with 69 pass attempts in three seasons with the Bills, Trubisky could pursue opportunities that offer more playing time, such as a potential fit with the Tennessee Titans and a coaching connection to Brian Daboll. Regardless of whether he stays, he has valued his time in Buffalo and the relationships built within the organization.
