Staley, a former NFL running back, played for the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2004-2006. In 2005 he rushed for 978 yards across 16 games, pairing with then-rookie standout Jerome Bettis as Pittsburgh’s rushing duo.
Beyond his playing days, Staley has built a long coaching resume. He spent a decade with the Philadelphia Eagles (2011-2020), including 2017 when the Eagles won the Super Bowl with him guiding the running backs. He also coached with the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers before joining the Browns in 2024.
In 2025, Browns rookie Quinshon Judkins thrived under Staley’s guidance, piling up 827 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns, plus 26 receptions for 171 yards.
Monken’s arrival in Cleveland as head coach has preserved Staley on the staff, providing continuity as the organization transitions to a new leadership regime. The Browns publicly confirmed Staley’s return for the 2026 season.
This development comes as part of Cleveland’s broader roster and coaching changes, with Monken assembling his leadership team while Staley continues to oversee the running backs group for another year.
