Davis was a key signee in the Patriots’ 2025 free-agent class, agreeing to a three-year, $69 million contract with $34.5 million guaranteed and an average value around $20 million per season. He started opposite Christian Gonzalez and served as a cornerstone in New England’s secondary.
In 2025, Davis started all 17 games and logged 38 solo tackles. His veteran leadership was especially evident in the AFC divisional round against the Houston Texans, where he recorded his first two interceptions in a Patriots uniform.
Following the Patriots’ Super Bowl LX loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Davis made clear to free-agent targets why they should consider joining New England: “Why wouldn’t you want to be here if we’re gonna compete for championships? We’re gonna win games and we have a good time doing it… I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t wanna play here.”
The Patriots reshaped their culture last offseason, adding big-name free agents like Harold Landry and Milton Williams alongside Davis, a move aided by the hiring of Mike Vrabel and a broader approach to building a winner’s mindset.
Davis brings a proven winning pedigree, including a Super Bowl LV title with the Buccaneers in 2020. Drafted 63rd overall in 2018, he spent six seasons with Tampa Bay before joining the Detroit Lions in 2024, where he played alongside Patriots assistant coach Terrell Williams. He later signed with the Patriots, continuing to bring high-level play and leadership to the secondary.
With Davis providing veteran leadership and depth, New England aims to sustain its 2025 success by pursuing elite free agents and continuing to build toward championship contention.
