The Packers also interviewed Arizona Cardinals passing-game specialist Connor Senger to satisfy the Rooney Rule, but ultimately decided that Getsy’s internal fit was too strong to pass up.
Getsy already has a deep connection with Jordan Love, having been Love’s first NFL quarterback coach when Love entered the league in 2021. He helped lay the foundation for Love’s development during his initial stint with the Packers.
Getsy’s Packers roots run deep. He began in Green Bay in 2014 as an offensive quality-control coach, later moving to wide receivers coach in 2016, before a college stop at Mississippi State as offensive coordinator in 2018. He returned to the Packers in 2019-2021 as quarterbacks coach and passing-game coordinator.
After leaving Green Bay to become the Chicago Bears’ offensive coordinator (and later spending time with the Las Vegas Raiders in the same role), Getsy was brought back to Green Bay late in the 2024 season as a defensive consultant and then served as a senior offensive assistant in 2025 before this promotion.
If Getsy can elevate Love’s game, he could strengthen Love’s MVP-level potential and renew interest in him for future coordinator roles. The QB room also includes backup quarterbacks Desmond Ridder and Kyle McCord as Getsy takes on a more prominent development role.
