Quarterback Matthew Stafford confirmed after earning the season’s Most Valuable Player award that he will return for a sixth season with the Rams, dispelling retirement speculation and giving Los Angeles a clear veteran cornerstone as they shape their offseason plan.
With Stafford back, the Rams are expected to pursue additional offensive reinforcements to maximize their offense under head coach Sean McVay. Puka Nacua emerged as Stafford’s go-to target, recording 166 targets in the regular season and 42 across the three playoff games, while Davante Adams was the next top target in Los Angeles’ passing attack.
Bleacher Report’s latest mock draft has the Rams adding to their offense with a 13th overall pick, selecting Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate. The pick would address a potential need while adding another high-end weapon to a prolific unit, giving Stafford more options to exploit opposing defenses.
Tate is regarded as one of the top receivers in the class, boasting 1,872 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns over three collegiate seasons. Projections compare him favorably to elite peers, highlighting his route running, size, and ability to win jump balls, which could help accelerate the development of a potent Rams passing attack.
Up front, the Rams may look to fortify the offensive line as veteran right tackle Rob Havenstein contemplates retirement after 11 seasons. Georgia tackle Monroe Freeling is projected by many as a late-first-round pick (around the 29th overall) and could be a long-term solution to strengthen protection behind McVay’s scheme, with Warren McClendon providing depth in the short term.
Having two first-round selections could give Los Angeles flexibility to pursue multiple upgrades. If Stafford’s weapons plan comes together and the line is stabilized, the Rams will be positioned to push for another run at Super Bowl LX in the 2026 season.
