The San Francisco Police Department issued a preliminary update describing a verbal altercation between two groups inside a business, with shots fired by an unknown suspect. The report, via The Athletic’s Matt Barrows, indicates White was the shooting victim.
Barrows also noted that White is expected to be OK and is not believed to have been part of the altercation that led to the shooting.
White was selected by the Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft in the second round, 46th overall. He appeared in 16 games as a rookie, posting 26 tackles, one sack, and three stuffs; the report also references additional production in his second season.
In October, White was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a package that included a 2026 sixth-round pick for the Patriots and a seventh-round pick going to the 49ers.
This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
