Crosby’s representatives have begun informing high-ranking league officials that the All-Pro edge rusher was healthy enough to play but was asked to sit out late in the regular season, fueling his belief that he will not suit up for Las Vegas again. The development makes a trade scenario the most sensible path for both Crosby and the Raiders to navigate this offseason.
At 28, Crosby remains one of the league’s premier pass rushers and is under contract for four more seasons. With Las Vegas in a rebuild and positioned to use the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft, a trade to land Crosby would come at a premium given the high demand for his talents and the desire to accelerate competitiveness.
Analysts have priced Crosby’s trade demand at a premium. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell has previously pegged Crosby as a first-round-pick-level asset, with the ceiling potentially including multiple first-round selections and more. Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer also predicted Crosby would leave Las Vegas, suggesting a deal could exceed the return seen in the Micah Parsons trade.
Detroit’s interest in Crosby would hinge on financial realities elsewhere on the roster. Aidan Hutchinson, speaking during Super Bowl week, acknowledged the Lions’ championship window but cautioned that the team’s cap situation and extensions for Jahmyr Gibbs, Jack Campbell, Sam LaPorta, and Brian Branch could limit bold moves. He noted that adding Crosby’s $106.5 million extension would be a significant obstacle.
Hutchinson tempered the excitement, however, describing the possibility as dangerous if it were to occur: “It sounds right… If it did happen, that would be so dangerous.” Still, he cautioned that the likelihood of Crosby ending up in Detroit is not high given the number of players already slated for big contracts.
In short, the Lions could explore a blockbuster if they decide to go all-in, but the price would be steep: Detroit would likely need to part with the 17th overall pick this year, its 2027 first-round selection, and additional assets to acquire Crosby. The development sets the stage for a high-stakes offseason as Crosby’s future and Detroit’s long-term plan intersect.
